SWAG’s After School & Summer Program

Overview: SWAG delivers a 2 day After School & Summer Program for Middle and High School Students

Will start back up in June 2026 at Tabernacle Church

Days: Monday’s & Thursday’s

Time: 4:30pm-7:30pm

SWAG-Empowerment Program

Overview: SWAG delivers a College & Career Readiness program at Wellspring Prep High School. 6 month cohort with a college tour for 26 High students every 5 weeks.

Days : Wednesday

Time: 12:40- 1:15pm

SWAG’s T.W.O Thrive While Outside Program

Overview: S.W.A.G is committed to expanding youth access to overnight camping 3-4 nights, integrating it with comprehensive environmental education. These camping experiences are pivotal for youth to engage fully with nature, learning about biodiversity, conservation, and the impacts of climate change firsthand. Our expanded programming will include new modules on Entrepreneurship, Financial Literacy, Artificial Intelligence, and Leadership Development, all integrated within the camping experiences.

SWAG Youth Leadership Council

  • The SWAG Youth Leadership Council is a group of young leaders ages 13–18 selected to plan, lead, and facilitate the SWAG Kids Choice Awards and future youth-led initiatives.

    Purpose

    To provide youth with real opportunities to lead, make decisions, and create meaningful experiences that impact their peers and community.

    Vision

    To build a generation of confident, skilled, and empowered young leaders who use their voice to shape their future and their communities.

    Goals

    • Develop leadership, communication, and teamwork skills

    • Gain hands-on experience in event planning, budgeting, and project management

    • Build confidence through public speaking and decision-making

    • Create a platform that celebrates and uplifts youth in Grand Rapids

    • Serve as a launching pad for future youth-led events and initiatives

Lesson Structure:

1. Poll Questions/Ice breaker

2. Introduction of lesson title and Famous who’s life its tied too.

3. Review the Icon’s life contribution to the community (followed by Group Discussion)

4. Break down lyric or quote by the Icon

5. Write about how that student interprets lyric or quote

6. Group Discussion about lyric or quote

7. Poll Questions/Ice breaker

8. Team building Activity which is directly related to the specific Life Skill

9. Group reflection on team building activity

10. Watch short video or presentation by Facilitator on ways to implement this Life Skill

11. Poll Questions

12. Reflection and Journal time to end the lesson

13. Final Project
